13th May 2010. We had an excellent night at the Top of the Shops Poole Retail Awards 2010, awards ceremony which was held at The Quay Thistle Hotel, Poole Quay. Out of 80 Shops entered we made it on to the short list for various awards - Best Window Display, Best Customer Service, Health & Beauty Store of the Year, Green Retailer of the Year, Best Newcomer, Best Overall, for both Multiple and Independent stores. |
The results were given in order of Highly Commended, Runner Up and Winner. Not expecting to get anything we came home with Best Overall Independent Highly Commended, amazing.

Great news regarding our chosen charity for 2009, The Hearts of Poole Appeal! The £38,000 target has been reached and the new Echocardiograph machine will be presented to Poole Hospital in the next week. Thanks to my friends and family who helped out, with baking cakes, donating and jogging last year, every little helped. |
| British Heart Foundation - Santa Jog - Hearts of Poole Appeal |
|---|
Saturday 12th December 2009, Alison and her Niece took part in the British Heart Foundation's Santa Jog, in aid of the Hearts of Poole Appeal. This was a 2 mile jog/walk/run around Baiter Park, by the water's edge. The adult entry fee of only £5 included a Santa suit to do it in. It was only £3 for the children and they got a prize for fancy dress. Fun was had by all, a nice early morning jog around Baiter Park was just what was needed to warm ourselves up. Alison's Niece couldn't wait to tell her teacher what she had done that weekend. See details below of how to donate to this worthwhile Appeal. |

28th August 2009, we took part in the Ashley Road Go Red Day. This event was organised by the British Heart Foundation and was to raise money for the Hearts of Poole Appeal. This appeal is rasing money for a portable echocardiograph (echo) machine for the Poole Hospital. An echo uses ultrasound technology (like an ultrasound scan done to see a baby in its mothers womb) and produces a clear picture of the patient's heart. |
The aim of the day was to turn Ashley Road Red, be it by wearing red, decorating shop windows or raffles. We decided to do a Homemade Cake Stall, with our good friends and family baking and donating cakes for us to sell on the day. We managed to raise over £60 for the appeal, which was fantastic. |
Unfortunately they still haven't reached their target of £38,000, so your donations are still very much needed, please see details of how to help below: |
